FLORIDA EMS PILOTS AT WORK

RECENT NEWS and HAPPENINGS

The Florida EMS Pilots Association takes great pleasure in recognizing Mr. Michael Markovich
of the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit as
Florida EMS Pilot of the Year.

While responding to trauma call at night, over a populated area, Mr. Markovich’s aircraft suffered
a catastrophic engine failure. Mr. Markovich initiated emergency actions to control the aircraft
and performed a successful autorotation to an unprepared surface without additional damage

Mr. Markovich’s selection by his peers from among a strong field of nominees is a testament to
his outstanding ability and professionalism in the Air Medical Field.
